What size do I wear now?

What size do I wear now?

I think one of the hardest parts of maternity for me was my changing body. Not only was I mentally dealing with a body that I didn't know anymore but then I also had to clothe that body. Apparently nudity is frowned upon in most places. So let's chat about why maternity clothing and what size you should get.

Why Maternity Clothing?

Maternity clothing is designed to accommodate your changing body. It's either going to stretch or have a clever way to allow your bump to continuing growing. Most people think ruched sides, but there is also pleating around the bump to accommodate growth. So while you can wear your partner's shirts, I highly suggest grabbing at least a few things so that you look and feel your best.

What essentials should you get? I suggest a pair of leggings, jeans, a few basic shirts that you can layer with, and two or three comfy bras.

One thing we do want to caution you against is just buying bigger clothing. This might not work long and probably won't fit you as well as regular maternity clothing.

What's my size?

Typically maternity clothing will follow the same pattern as non-maternity. So if you are normally a large, then you are probably a large in most maternity clothing. Of course, this is women's clothing so each brand will vary on if it's a snugger or looser fit.

One thing that we do want to mention on sizing is bras. When choosing a maternity bra, it's important to see which ones have a range of sizing. Your breasts and chest may continue to grow throughout and then after pregnancy. For this reason, we say stay away from bras that are band and cup sized. Instead go with bras that are small, medium, etc and will allow you to gain and lose inches. We are always happy to help you figure out your size and style as well so just send us a message!

A few extra tips for buying maternity clothing

Check maternity size charts. Maternity clothing sizes can vary by brand. If you're shopping online, measure your bust, waist/bump, and hips, and compare them to a brand’s size chart to ensure what you’re buying will fit. If yo have any questions, send us a message!

Confirm the store return policies. We try to have a generous return policy because we know how hard it can be to find something you love. So we want you to know it's easy to return with us.

Wear what makes you feel best. Here's the kicker.. What looks the best on you as your body changes throughout pregnancy is ultimately what will make you feel your best and most confident. And y'all I want you to have the same confidence my toddler did when walked out of the house in her outfits. I am 100% sure yours will look better tho.

As always, we are here for you! If you need any help styling, sizing, or returning.. Just let us know.
